Rangpur Medical College and Hospital


Bangladesh is a populated country as its total land and it is a land of rivers. There is no way to go to other district without cross any river. The Rangpur is on the bank of the river Tista. It is the northern part of Bangladesh. The communication it with Rajshahi or Dhaka is near about 300km distance. There is no direct road transport to go to these two districts. For this reason the general people are deprive to get there treatment. As a result the government of East Pakistan established a medical college in Rangpur named Rangpur Medical College and Hospital. It is establish in 1970 with a 500 bed hospital. In 1971, the first batch admitted here affiliated with Rajshahi University. 50 Students admitted in the first batch. Now a days, the students are admitted here 175 every year. 44th Batch is now admitted in 2015.


Rangpur Medical College and Hospital is one of the biggest medical colleges with its large area. It is a five storied building with six (6) partitions. The medicine wards are1, 2 & 3.The surgery wards are 4, 8 & 10. Ward number 5 is for ENT (Eye, Neck and Throat). The College building contains Administrative block, Conference room, Air-conditioned Library, Medical Education unit, Research Cell, Lecture Gallery, Post Office, Guest House, Medical Skill Centre, College Canteen, Teacher Lounge and a beautiful Auditorium.
